Sisterhood of the traveling dress

Last spring the idea of the traveling dress was thrown out to the members of a group we belong to called the twelfth year. We immediately jumped on board because it was just what we needed to get our creative juices flowing! Not to mention how awesome it will be to see 12 photographers use the same dress in very different creative ways! We absolutely LOVED the idea of using the same dress with everyone’s different visions. We all have such different photography styles and it’s going to be so exciting to see them all!

All the participants got to vote on several different dresses and even though the one we really wanted didn’t win we still made it work for the vision we had.  Each photographer got the dress for a 2 week period and we shot ours on August 6th, 2018. As you can imagine we have been dying to share these images! For the photo shoot we wanted something completely different and kind of dark. Being the huge Disney fans we are, what better character then the Mad Hatter. All that was missing was a hat and a jacket of some sorts. We hit the thrift store in downtown Lodi and found the perfect 1950s twill green suit. The jacket was beyond perfect! The top hat and purple tulle pulled it all together.  We wanted a simple alley looking background, so we found a backdrop and shot indoors. We typically shoot outdoors with natural light, but we wanted a very moody/dark look.  This was our first experience with our new light set up and were beyond thrilled with the results!

We decided to use our teen Model Cameryn who we have been photographing for several years now and she is very comfortable in front of the camera. She was the perfect person to play the role we had created! We hope you enjoy!
