Marissa's Senior Session at Sly Park | Vista del Lago High School | Folsom Senior Photographer
Some sessions are all about variety, and Marissa's is a great example of what that actually looks like in practice. Six outfit changes, one gorgeous Sierra foothill location, and a golden hour that just kept giving — this is what a full MC Senior Portrait Experience looks like for a Vista del Lago High School senior who wanted her gallery to feel like six completely different days.
This is exactly what the MC Senior Portrait Experience is built around — planning ahead so nothing feels rushed on session day, and locations chosen to fit your story instead of the other way around. As a Folsom senior photographer, some of my favorite sessions are the ones like Marissa's, where a Vista del Lago senior wanted something completely different from the usual spots, so we headed up into the Sierra foothills instead of staying close to home.
Pines, Water, and Golden Fields at Sly Park
Sly Park gave us something a little different than our usual Folsom-area spots — dry lake shoreline, tall pines, and open grassy fields all within a short walk of each other. It's the kind of location that lets a session breathe: start in the trees for something a little more grounded and textured, then move out into the open grass for that golden, glowing light as the sun starts to drop.
Six Looks, Zero Repeats
Marissa came ready with a wardrobe that covered every mood. A white dress with red cowboy boots kicked things off with some fun, playful energy in the grass. From there we moved into a black crop top and wide-leg denim for something more relaxed and current, tucked into the forest undergrowth. A white tee layered under a black leather jacket with a denim mini skirt and tall boots gave us an edgier, more fashion-forward look — daisies in hand, kicking down a dirt trail.
As the light turned gold, we shifted into softer territory: a striped sweater with denim shorts, a blue floral cami with a flowy white maxi skirt, and finally a coral floral dress that caught the very last of the sunlight standing out in the open field by the water. Six outfits, six completely different feelings, and not one of them looked like it was trying too hard to get there.
Why This Combination Works
This is exactly the kind of range I love building into a session — not variety for the sake of it, but outfits and locations chosen so a senior's gallery shows every side of who she actually is. Playful and bold, soft and golden, a little edgy, a little romantic. That's the whole idea behind the MC Senior Portrait Experience: nobody is just one thing, so your pictures shouldn't be either.
In Marissa's Words
"Michelle is an absolutely amazing photographer! I felt so comfortable being myself and you can definitely see that in the photos she takes. She does an amazing job with planning and making it fun! Most importantly she creates such an amazing environment and positive experience! This was just an amazing experience and you should definitely give her a chance!!"

This is what the MC Senior Portrait Experience is all about — a full, guided process that takes you from planning your outfits and locations, through a relaxed, directed session day, all the way to your Image Premiere where you see your photos for the first time and choose your favorites. As a Folsom senior photographer, I built this experience so nothing about senior pictures feels stressful or like guesswork — you can see everything that's included on my Folsom senior photography page.
